Snow Ice Cream

This is a tasty treat from the Duggar's book.

1 1/2 to 2 cups sugar, to taste
1 tsp. imitation vanilla (1/2 tsp. if using real vanilla)
1 qrt. heavy whipping cream or half-and-half
6 qrts. clean, fresh snow (don't pack it into the measuring cup: it should be fluffy)

In a large bowl, mix the sugar, vanilla, and whipping cream. Start adding snow 2 cups at a time. Toss with the other ingredients until the mixture is the consistency of ice cream.

I can't wait for a nice fresh snow to make this with the kiddos!

Is there such a thing as clean fresh snow?

Read about treats being made in snow in the Laura Ingalls books. Tried it when I was a child. Sweet snow was all I got, this sounds better, but I live in a city and don't think the snow ever falls enough to be considered clean. Oh well, maybe I can shave ice.

Well the way I figure it, it's not going to be eaten every day and it's probably not any worse than a BK burger. LOL! ;)
